Giò
Carbone founded Le Arti Orafe
Jewellery School in Florence in 1985. Conceived along original lines that
combine technical training, artistic research and contemporary design Le Arti
Orafe is a prestigious private school, organising and running courses of various
lengths in subjects relating to jewellery and goldsmithing.
In the historic
town of Lucca the school has imposing premises in an historic mansion where an
Academy for advanced courses, masterclasses and workshops with artists and designers
are held. They comprise two workshops, a large room for meetings, conferences,
lessons and seminars, offices, and offer a magnificent view over the rooftops
of the city.
In Lucca the school manages Le
Arti Orafe ArtGallery for contemporary jewellery, and hosts goldsmiths, artists,
designers and students from all over the world for one-man and collective exhibitions,
in addition to organising a major art event - Lucca
Preziosa - which will be held in the town again in October this year..
We are grateful to Giò Carbone for bringing together the artists whose
work will form a special collection of jewellery for sale at this year's aura
exhibition.
